Millennium card holders can register free

Bikecoruña starts up with 150 bicycles at ten different points in the city

The City Council of A Coruña has started up the Bikecoruña bicycle rental service, via municipal company Emvsa. Holders of the Millennium card can register at the Emvsa offices at the Casa del Agua Water Centre.

The new infrastructure will improve mobility in the city, providing a free bicycle rental service. There are 150 units, distributed around ten different points in the city.

Millenium card holders can register at the Emvsa offices in the Casa del Agua Water Centre, from 09:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 18:00. Public information stands will be installed this week.

Visitors and tourists can also use the service by obtaining an alternative Bicicoruña card - this service starts up on 15 July, the same day as rental begins.

Use of bicycles is free, although users have to pay an annual maintenace cost. Millennium card holders will have to pay 10 Euros. The annual cost in 2010 will be 30 Euros. The Bicicoruña card lasts for one month and the maintenance cost is 5 Euros - users with this card will also have to pay a deposit of 20 Euros, which will be returned qwhen the card is given back. 

The bicycles are available at the bus station, Os Castros, Oza beach, Méndez Núñez, the Tower of Hercules sports centre, As Lagoas, Plaza de Pontevedra, the Casa del Agua, the Millennium and the train station. They can be used for two hours - if they have not been returned at any base after this time the user card will be cancelled. 

The servie is available from 08:00 to 22:00 from April to October and from 08:00 to 20:00 the rest of the year.
