All committed to using renewable energies and promoting efficiency in their companies.

Over 50 companies and entities join in Sustainable Energy Network with Council for rational consumption

This Thursday the City Council of A Coruña will present the new Sustainable Energy Network with the participation of over 50 large companies, banks, associations, official associations, groups, entities and social institutions in the city in order to work towards good practices in energetic efficiency and sustainable consumption.

This is the first Sustainable Energy Network to be set up in Spain and will be an example to follow throughout Europe thanks to its significant social support and ambitious goals.

The main agents in the city in the field of energy will all be present - they have all undertaken to work towards the rational use of energy and to implement sources of renewable energy in their surroundings , to exchange information among members and publish good practices and to take part in meetings and discussions which will be set up as part of the Practise Participation Plan.

Local government will thus be working together with residents and other agents in the city against climate change in a new experience and new concept - the Community for Sustainable Energy.

One of the main actions will be obtaining information about the situation of the city, and a public survey being carried out among in the population of A Coruña.

The results obtained will lead to an Action Plan with specific projects to improve the use of energy, especially in municipal bildngs and installations and to change bad habits for other more sustainable ones.

A conference entitled "The role of cities in the struggle against climate change: the sustainable management of energy and community involvement", which will take place on 24 April from 09:00 to 14:00 at the University of A Coruña administration building, will be the official presentation of the two main projects - the Luminic Map and the Practise Energy Project.

Practise Energy is an international project to develop Sustainable Energy on a local level.  It is part of the Smart Energy for Europe programme and apart from A Coruña includes Alessandria in Italy, L'Ille et Vilaine in France, Ploiesti in Romania and TTR in the UK among others.
