 Water Distribution

From the tanks in the city, water is distributed through an intricate network of underground pipes.

At the end of 1999 the network was made up of 354 Km. of pipes. This is the equivalent of 1.45 m for each person who uses the water supply service.

Depending on the needs, pipes are made of metal or plastic, and these are gradually replacing the older cement pipes. Pipe diameters vary from 500 mm for the larger general supply ones to the smallest, which measures 80 mm.
