Maintenance for the Future

Now that the landfill has been closed and sealed, the Council signed the Maintenance Contract for the sealed area and the regenerated area making up the Park of Bens. This contract fulfils Directiva 1999/31/CE, dated 26 April, related to landfills , especially the part related to control and vigilance, explained in Annex III. All the legal requirements for maintaining the sealed area and its environmental control are met. Maintenance costs are reduced by producing electricity from the biogas coming from the sealed landfill.
