 Our commitment to the planet

Sustainable development is development which meets the needs of the present without placing at risk the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is based on the capacity to sustain the environment.

NB - sustainable development is not the same as
"sustained growth".

The expression"sustained growth" refers to the growth rate of macroeconomic data, which may or may not be related to social justice, cultural development and a sustainable way of life. "Sustained growth" is all too often unsustainable, given that it involves using natural resources in such a way that they cannot be regenerated naturally.
